Upcoming shows: November

Here are some of the shows I’m going to try to make it to this month. Maybe you should come too! Lots of good stuff here.

Of Montreal and La Luz
Thursday, Nov. 7
Wonder Ballroom
’60s style all-lady garage rock awesomeness opening for hyper, maximalist dance-pop awesomeness.

Shook Twins
Saturday, Nov. 9
Alberta Rose Theater
Spooky folk duo play the lady-centric Siren Nation Festival. With Calico Rose and Copper and Coal. Really I’d go to everything in this festival if I could–they’ve got music, comedy, crafts, and who knows what all. It sounds super fun.

Neo Boys Record Release Party
Sunday, Nov. 10
Crystal Ballroom
Freakin’ tons of cool bands at this fundraiser for Rock n Roll Camp for Girls. (If I’m fake-cussing, you know it’s good.) I’m excited for Newman/Schonberg/Reyna (shredding heaviosity), The Ghost Ease (moody garage rock), and Busy Scissors (I just like the name), but the whole night should be awesome.

1939 Ensemble
Sunday, Nov. 17
Secret Society
Vibraphone and drum duo making weirdo music. With Brotzman/Nilssen Love Duo, titans of free jazz. Maybe overwhelming? I’ll let you know how it goes. 1939 is also at the Doug Fir Nov. 27 if you need some Thanksgiving Eve tunes.

Big Freedia
Monday, Nov. 18
Doug Fir
New Orleans bounce, for a sweaty, booty-shaking good time. Totally worth the money.

Mountain Sounds and Golden Retriever
Thursday, Nov. 21
Mellow pop (MS) and even mellower synth drones (GR).

Neurosis and Atriarch
Saturday, Nov. 23
It will be LOUD and it will be METAL. Sludgy doomy metal for creeping through the forest.

What other good shows are coming up?
